FMG Grows Insurance Coverage Team in Atlanta



Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, a leading nationwide specialty litigation law firm with 170 attorneys nationally in 19 offices in 10 states, is pleased to announce that Matt Boyer and Alexia Roney have joined the firm in the Atlanta office. Both previously practiced with the law firm of Nall & Miller LLP. Mr. Boyer joins FMG as a partner, and Ms. Roney joins as senior counsel.
Mr. Boyer and Ms. Roney will practice with the Atlanta Coverage team which now numbers over a dozen lawyers devoted to representation of many of the industry’s largest domestic and international carriers. FMG’s National Insurance Coverage and Extra-Contractual Practice Section has over 35 lawyers nationwide.
Mr. Boyer is an experienced trial attorney, defending insurers and their insureds, as well as corporate, and governmental clients, in litigation throughout the State of Georgia. Mr. Boyer has tried multiple cases to verdict in all of Georgia’s federal districts and has represented his clients before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, as well as in many state courts.  
Mr. Boyer’s insurance coverage practice includes providing analysis and advice, and litigating, a variety of first-party and third-party coverage matters arising under commercial general liability, personal auto, business auto, umbrella, directors & officers, errors & omissions, professional liability, and property and crime policies. Mr. Boyer also has extensive experience litigating governmental liability matters.  Mr. Boyer was an Assistant Attorney General with the Georgia Attorney General’s office and has continued his representation of state government agencies, officials, and employees in constitutional litigation as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia. Mr. Boyer is a Captain in the United States Air Force as a JAG Corps reservist and, upon graduation from law school at Tulane University, clerked for The Honorable W. Brevard Hand (dec.), Senior District Judge for the United States District Court, Southern District of Alabama.
Ms. Roney brings nearly twenty years of litigation and experience to FMG. She also has a substantial background in science, medicine, and information technology with an array of experience in a variety of complex coverage litigation both in Georgia and nationally. In addition to her insurance coverage practice, where she provides advises her clients on various coverage issues, Ms. Roney has successfully represented correctional clients throughout the United States in both state and federal court. 
Ms. Roney graduated magna cum laude and was Order of the Coif at the University of Arizona Law School.  Prior to private practice, she served as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
