In the civil litigation sector, Ms. Fenlator routinely defends national retailers and hospitality service providers in various premises and product liability disputes in both Connecticut federal and state courts. She is results-oriented and has successfully defended and resolved claims of hazardous conditions, falling merchandise, slip and fall, negligence, and general liability.
As a member of the Transportation Law Practice Group, Ms. Fenlator also defends trucking and commercial transportation companies against motor vehicle liability claims involving personal injury, property damage, and workers’ compensation claims. She is responsive and works diligently to assist clients in the investigation of motor vehicle accidents, managing on-scene accident investigations and addressing the areas of inquiry necessary to promptly evaluate the level of exposure following an accident. Ms. Fenlator manages an active caseload of workers’ compensation claims and advises and defends self-insured transportation companies and their insurance carriers before judges in each of the eight districts of the Workers’ Compensation Commission of Connecticut. Using her understanding of complex medical-legal issues, Ms. Fenlator is able to develop creative strategies to resolve disputed issues ranging from the compensability of injuries to claims of permanent and total disability. Her commitment to providing competent legal advice is demonstrated in her devotion to understanding the complex and ever-changing federal, state, and local laws of the trucking industry and her track record of achieving cost-effective and positive results.
Notably, Ms. Fenlator holds a unique position in the firm as one of only two attorneys admitted to both tribal courts situated on tribal land in Connecticut. As an admitted attorney, Ms. Fenlator is often called on to handle litigation pending before the Gaming Disputes Court and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court. In this capacity, she provides counsel to and defends product manufacturers, distributors, and retailers doing business at two of the world’s largest casinos- Foxwoods Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino.
Ms. Fenlator received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2007, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2011. While in law school, she served as the Notes & Comments Editor for the Connecticut Insurance Law Journal, and was elected to the Moot Court Board after advancing as a Quarter Finalist in the William H. Hastie Moot Court Competition.
Outside of the office, Ms. Fenlator enjoys traveling, baking, and supporting the UConn Huskies at basketball and football games.
